Clearwater County
Clearwater County is a place where you can be close to nature without getting too far away. The Clearwater River, which forms part of its namesake was used as an important transportation route in past centuries. It runs through this beautiful county along with many other waterways that were crucial during Idaho's native history times. Clearwater County has been changing and growing for years. In the Clearwater Historical Museum's collection, you can see artifacts from all over, including logging tools to Nez Perce culture. In addition, it has many homesteads that will stretch your imagination! It is are also supported by generous communities that want this legacy shared with others. The North Fork of the Clearwater River runs through a picturesque part of Idaho. This area is home to some great activities like fishing in its many lakes or hiking trails that lead up onto Dworshak Dam - the third highest peak around. Located between Orofino and Pierce, the modest Bald Mountain ski area is a great place to get some fresh air while enjoying winter activities.
U.S Highway 12 is a key road in the area and runs east to west across Clearwater County connecting with Interstate 90 at Missoula, MT, or Idaho State Highway 95 near Lewiston ID.
